During our Writing and Language Arts block students have been busy with drafting and publishing their work. They’ve done opinion pieces, informational and narrative writing this year.
I have enjoyed conferencing with each of them and assisting with revisions and edits. They look forward to sharing their work with you in their Writing Portfolios in May.
Please continue to check your child’s planner for spelling test dates.
- The students are eager to start our next read aloud! “Crenshaw” By: Katherine Applegate, was recommended by a student in our class and we look forward to starting it this month.
- During the 3rd quarter of 4th grade, students will continue to make and understand connections between content – rich reading materials. We will also be focusing on responding to more text dependent questions in small group.
- Continue to encourage your child to read at home. The kids had a great time at their Reading Party in December. Students are striving for 2,000 pages or 20 books read by mid – May. Remember 100 pages = 1 book. Students are keeping track of their pages on a log kept in the classroom.
